Farm Bloomington
Bloomington, IN
Great restaurant in Bloomington, Indiana (Indiana U). This has to be the cream of the crop for food in this college town. Open Tuesday thru Saturday, menu changes with the seasons and available crop. Chef Daniel Orr focuses on local fresh produce and meats and turns them into la gastronomie.

Herbsaint
New Orleans, LA
Another one of my must haves in New Orleans. If you want to stay in the CBD area for dinner this is it. Their web site has a perfect description on this place so I am going to plagiarize it, although I will say it is the perfect place to enjoy a meal and watch the street cars go by at dusk.

Cattleman's Cafe
Oklahoma City, OK
Cattleman’s is the oldest and longest opened restaurant in Oklahoma City. Opened in 1910 to the ranchers and cattle haulers of the Stockyards it was one of the few places that stayed open after sundown and during prohibition was known for its home brew, wink, wink.

Roberto's River Road
Sunshine, LA (Baton Rouge)
Top of my list for Louisiana gourmet creole cooking. About 10 miles south of LSU on river road sits a 150 year old building that in the 1850’s housed J.J. LaPlace & Son’s General Store. Don’t let the location fool you, this place is a diamond in the rough.

Mulberry
Buffalo, NY
Found a gem in Buffalo. Tucked way back in the blue collar Italian neighborhood of Lackawanna is some of the closest meals I have had to authentic New York Italian. Built in the 1920's and rumored to be a mafia hangout in the 1950's it is a classic, old school, mom and pop "Angolo Posto" (corner joint).

Jacquelyn's Cafe
Shreveport, LA
One of my favorite places to eat lunch on this planet, being they are only open for lunch. This place has been here as long as I can remember and has always had a steady lunch crowd. Red Beans and Rice, Chicken Sausage Jambalaya, Shrimp Etoufee, Shrimp and Crab Gumbo, its all delicieux.

Jules Thin Crust
Doylestown, PA (Philly area)
not going to tell you this is the best pizza in the world, I already know where that is, but if your close to any of their Philadelphia locations (four in PA., and one in CA.) Jules Thin Crust is some pretty good stuff. I love thin crust pizza, especially when the edges are crisp and this did not let me down.

Kabuki
Honolulu, HI
A good friend took me here and said the sushi is off the hook. I am not a huge sushi connoisseur but I do enjoy it. Two good things I noticed right away that were a good sign of things to come, the fish is about as fresh as you can get and the place was packed with locals, not Hawaiians, Japanese.

One of my favorite foods is pizza. I have had pizza everywhere, Chicago, New York, L.A., Rome, even birth place of pizza Naples, Italy. They were all good, but this is still one of my favorites. It is the dive of all dive’s. Dark, smokey (until they passed a no smoking ordinance), and greasy

St. Elmo's
Indianapolis, IN
St. Elmo Steak House has been a downtown landmark since opening in 1902. Named after the patron saint of sailors St. Elmo, the tiger oak back-bar still gives the place a feel of the old Chicago style steak houses. Founded by Joe Stahr as a small tavern it has grown into one of the top chop houses in the US.

Husk
Charleston, SC
Was taken to HUSK for dinner with indications it was one of the top places in town to get a table. Chef Sean Brock has twice cooked for the James Beard Foundation, write ups in the New Yorker and NYT, winner of "Next Great Chef", an appearance on "Iron Chef", nominated for James Beard "Rising Star Chef", Bon Appetite Best New Restaurant, and won James Beard "Best Chef Southeast", so whatever I was told it was going to be good.

Cafe Patachou
Indianapolis, IN
Had no intention of having breakfast but a good friend from D.C. recommended I try this place before I left, I am glad he did. Directly across from the state capitol house is what is called “a student union for adults”. Lunch is on the menu but breakfast is in order here. Bon Appetite names it “Top Ten Favorite Place for Breakfast in the Nation”.

Chris' Hot Dogs
Montgomery, AL
Hank Williams Sr. used to come in and play guitar sitting on the jukebox in his younger days. President FDR use to make this a mandatory stop on his way thru Alabama and would have a box of dogs delivered to his train. Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr. were frequent customers, the place has a history.

DADA
Delray Beach, FL
Fantastic little restaurant/pub located off the beaten path of the Delray strip. The home was built in 1924 and the staff say’s the owners ghost haunts the upstairs. Great outdoor/patio area and each room inside seems to have its own theme. The back room must be a movie room (watched Crouching Tiger/Hidden Dragon one night with a friend while having dinner).
